5 tribbles!!! I know this pre-series wasn't a fan favorite of Trekkies and Trekkers alike. That it wasn't up to Starfleet standards, well until the fourth season that is. But, that is why I liked this series because they were really going where no man has gone before with no prime directive to go by.

Any series can be tricky involving time travel, and the Temporal Cold War is no exception. Sadly, by the second season it goes, well...cold. But it does give us the Suliban. Again, I know not a fan favorite because of using a new race, but to me it works. A future race promising a place in history to a forgotten race makes sense.

I also like the Vulcans being the big brother to humans. Giving them just enough info to keep them from advancing to fast and hurting themselves. In which, I can understand humans wanting to rebel.

Wow, I can't believe that it's been six months since my last comment here (I blame Romulans). Anyway, I just wanted to add some more thoughts.

I know the theme song didn't get much love, but I thought it added to the new approach to the series. And that it was a good fit with the opening credits.

The Enterprise NX-01 is a beauty that even Montgomery Scott would be proud of. A very sleek design that Abrams goes with in the rebooted movies.

The Crew = Captain Archer I like, of course I'm a Quantum Leap fan, and Team Porthos.
T'Pol goes without saying. She's the Seven of Nine for Enterprise.
Dr. Phlox is awesome. Funny, as he seems to be more human than the others.
Mayweather & Hoshi are okay. Although, Hoshi is whiney at first.
Trip and Reed are annoying. Reed's a stuffy by the books boring Brit, and Trip's the good ol' boy Southern mechanic.

I love the farmer shooting the Klingoff with his plasma rifle!

I do like the idea of Mayweather growing up on a spaceship, and knowing about the grav sweet spot.

So, Vulcans don't eat food with their hands. I'm pretty sure we've seen Spock or Tuvok using their hands before.

I got to go to Rigel X and take in the exotic sights with butterflies!

Nice seeing some Suliban not liking the price to be advanced.

T'Pol in skivvies getting all oiled up!!!

Good seeing a grappler instead of a tractor beam, but I'm not sure about using phasers and a transporter so soon.

The Suliban helix in the gas giant with the Enterprise playing cat and mouse was cool.

I think this is the first time I've seen sunlight on the Klingon homeworld. Also to have or have not ridged foreheads?

Captain's Log - "We can't be afraid of the wind, ensign. Take us to warp four."-Captain Archer

The thing that stood out for me back when I first watched this, and still does was the beginning. I live in Oklahoma and seeing a Klingon in Oklahoma was surreal. I've never been to Broken Bow but I'm unsure if they grown corn on the Kansas scale. Unsure why they didn't set this in Kansas but that's Hollywood.

Decent start. Still a good episode. Nice mix of characters but I still have a hard time seeing Backula as a captain. Keep expecting him to get in a tight spot, look at the camera and say, "Oh boy"

[Klaang is shouting in Klingon]
Capt. Jonathan Archer: Do you know how to tell him to shut up?
Ensign Hoshi Sato: [to Klaang] SHUT UP!

This was a better than I expected. I never had a chance to watch this show when it aired. Didn't help most of my friends didn't like it.

I like Bakula as Archer, but why did he take a dog into space? Now all I hear is my kid asking about the dog.

Phlox is a great character.

Most of the characters are pretty bland, but it is only the first episode.

Haven't watched this since the premiere so a re-watch was needed. I enjoyed it even more this 2nd time around. Likeable characters, Vulcans being jerks to humans and James Cromwell reprising his role as Cochrane-I think it's my favorite premiere episode of the canon.

This is a great start to the series. I really like Bakula as Archer. Hoshi and Travis are pretty one-dimensional, but I like everyone else on the main crew, for the most part. Trip is, by far my favorite.
