I get they're doing a whole "sub-hunting" storyline, but...being silent so no one on the other ship can hear you? They're in space. Not sure why that's a worry.

Best episode produced up until this one, and for many reasons. First, it is the first appearance of the Romulans. Somehow, I was under the impression that the Klingons would precede them but I was wrong.

Second, the wargame between Kirk and the Romulan Commander is brilliantly written. Kirk's ability as a strategist really impressed me. I like that both sides have managed to earn each other's respect in the end.

Third, I appreciated how the meaningless death of the groom before they could marry showed how random and ironically cruel wars can be.

Finally on another level, the animosity from Stiles towards Spock is one of this series' first takes on prejudice and racism. This subplot was also executed well.

All in all, great drama, and enough comedic relief to take us through. I loved it, despite the ridiculous helmets worn by the Romulan officers.

What could one say? This one's a heavy hitter. Romulans, gravity, and submarine fights.
